U.S. Initiative

The California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF)  worked in partnership with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), Governor's Administration and Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Legislature and Congressional Delegation to secure a fair share of broadband and related-program funding for California from federal economic stimulus American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

The ARRA directed the Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service (RUS) Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP) and the Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) to expand broadband access to unserved and underserved communities across the U.S., increase jobs, spur investments in technology and infrastructure, and provide long-term economic benefits. Detailed information on ARRA broadband funding opportunities can be found at Broadband USA.
