Access Broadband Connect (ABC) Grants
Digital Access Project – ABC
This Access, Broadband, Connect Grant enables Sigma Beta Xi (SBX) to promote access to affordable home Internet in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties to help meet the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF) overall goal of 500,000 adoptions by 2022. The $300,000 grant awarded in April 2019 is to achieve 2,500 adoptions. The mission of SBX is to break the cycle of poverty and violence through mentoring, education, and community organizing and to mitigate the Digital Divide injustices experienced in impoverished communities.
Frontier Partnership Grants
Frontier Digital Access Project
This Grant supports the participation of Sigma Beta Xi, Inc., (SBX) in the partnership between the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF) and Frontier Communications, Inc. to increase awareness and adoptions to help meet the CETF program goal of 50,000 adoptions by 2021. The $60,000 grant awarded in April 2019 is designed to achieve 1,000 adoptions. SBX is managing the computing device distribution program after confirming a new Internet subscription.
