The California Emerging Technology Fund Communities Empowerment Initiative includes digital literacy training.
The California Emerging Technology Fund is commemorating Digital Inclusion Week 2026 with the Assembly Bill 617 Communities Empowerment Initiative, which includes digital literacy trainings that benefited residents in five digitally disadvantaged communities: West Oakland, East Oakland, Richmond, South Sacramento and Stockton. Through the initiative, 53 Digital Navigators across these communities were trained to support ongoing digital inclusion work, and the effort enabled the distribution of nearly 1,000 computing devices, per an emailed news release.
