Senator Alex Padilla Says “Get Connected! California”

Senator Alex Padilla is the first Latino Secretary of California Senate and a fierce champion for Digital Equity in the State.  As a State Senator, Alex Padilla authored legislation to establish the California Advanced Services Fund and the California Broadband Council.  The agencies have been key to supporting affordable broadband in unserved and underserved areas, the Governor’s Broadband For All Action Plan, and public-private partnerships.

Senator Padilla joined CETF, CAFwd, GOBiz and more than 30 other civic leadership groups, community organizations, businesses and Internet Service Providers for a briefing to discuss the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the Bi-Partisan Infrastructure Bill (BIL).  Senator Padilla urged all stakeholders to work together and forge partnerships to secure California’s fair share of Federal Funds and to ensure the best value for California taxpayers and residents.

In March 2022, Senator Padilla collaborated with CETF to develop an awareness message urging Californians to find out if they qualify for the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). The message was a response to the Call-To-Action issues by CETF, the California Department of Education, and California Broadband Council to raise awareness of ACP.
